Good news for Hyatt devotees. Starting Jan. 1, 2024, World of Hyatt will implement a series of changes aimed at improving its Milestone Rewards program. While nearly all the changes are positive, there is at least one downgrade that members won’t be thrilled about. Here are all the changes to the World of Hyatt Milestone Rewards program you need to know about for 2024:

What are Hyatt Milestone Rewards?

Hyatt Milestone Rewards are extra perks awarded to members for roughly every 10 nights or 15,000 base points earned. World of Hyatt has four increasingly elite status tiers: Member, Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist. Milestone Rewards are designed to entice members to continue staying with the brand and each level includes rewards like bonus points, club lounge access awards, suite upgrade awards and FIND experience credits.

While these benefits are certainly useful and can enhance any Hyatt stay, the hotelier previously stopped issuing additional Milestone Rewards once a member reached 100 nights. Recognizing an uptick in travel, Hyatt aims to encourage further stays by expanding Milestone Rewards to guests who stay up to 150 nights a year.

What’s changing?

  • Hyatt is adding new Milestone Rewards.
  • Hyatt is adding more “milestones” at which members will receive extra perks, going up to 150 nights per calendar year.
  • Hyatt is improving the selection of Milestone Rewards at nearly every tier.
  • Guest of Honor bookings are no longer unlimited.
  • All Milestone Rewards perks (except for 2K Next Stay Awards and My Hyatt Concierge) can be transferred to other members via an online form.

It’s fair to say that Hyatt Milestone Rewards are undergoing numerous changes. At nearly every tier, members will receive one award plus another of their choosing. The selection of awards is also improving, with higher bonus point rewards and more options to choose from.

Hyatt has also rolled out improvements to its website and app so that nearly all Milestone Rewards can be applied online or even transferred to other members. Here’s a more detailed look at each change.

New Milestone Rewards

Although members will continue to choose from bonus points, club access and suite upgrade awards, new Milestone Rewards options will include higher FIND experience credits which will replace Hyatt gift cards. Members staying 20 or 30 nights can choose a “2K Next Stay Award” which includes 2,000 bonus points on their next stay at a Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Caption by Hyatt or UrCove hotel.

And, the Guest of Honor perk is no longer just a Globalist benefit. Instead, it’s issued to guests who reach the milestone of 40 nights or 65,000 base points in a calendar year, with additional awards issued on subsequent tiers. These awards can be transferred to other members or used for your own stays when you want to apply Globalist benefits.

Hyatt is also rolling out a Miraval Extra Night perk at the 100-night mark, which gets you access to a free second night on paid or award stays at Miraval resorts. Lastly, those who complete 150 nights receive an “Ultimate Free Night Award” valid at any Hyatt hotel or resort.

More milestones up to 150 nights

Hyatt is adding additional milestones beyond the 100-night mark, to reward members for staying loyal to the brand beyond reaching their status goals and the current 100-night threshold for Milestone Rewards. Here’s a chart of how the new Milestone Rewards will work.

Improved selection of rewards at each milestone

Not only will members earn additional perks for up to 150 nights, but the selection has improved considerably. Here’s how each milestone will change on Jan. 1, 2024:

20 nights or 35,000 base points

  • Current: Two club lounge access awards.
  • New in 2024: Your choice of 2K Next Stay Award, 2 Club Access Awards or $25 FIND credit.

30 nights or 50,000 base points

  • Current: A Category 1-4 free night award and two Club Access Awards.
  • New in 2024: A Category 1-4 free night award and your choice of 2K Next Stay Award, two Club Access Awards or $25 FIND credit.

40 nights or 65,000 base points

  • Current: 5,000 bonus points or a $100 Hyatt gift card or a $150 FIND credit.

50 nights or 80,000 base points

  • Current: Two suite upgrade awards.

  • Current: 10,000 bonus points or one suite upgrade award.
  • New in 2024: One Guest of Honor Award and your choice of 10,000 bonus points, one suite upgrade award or a $300 FIND credit.

`100 nights

  • Current: 10,000 bonus points or one suite upgrade award.
  • New in 2024: One Category 1-7 free night award AND your choice of 10,000 bonus points, one suite upgrade award or a Miraval Extra Night.

Guest of Honor bookings are no longer unlimited

The downside to all of these changes is that the coveted Guest of Honor perk reserved for Globalists is no longer unlimited. Instead, it’s become another Milestone Reward that members can take advantage of, starting at 40 nights.

Those with Hyatt Globalist status (as well as Lifetime Globalists) will receive five Guest of Honor Awards in January, which will be valid through February 2025.

While the change isn’t ideal, it does make the award more practical for those who would rather be able to share benefits with friends and family even before reaching that status level.

Bottom line

Overall, the changes to Hyatt’s Milestone Rewards chart are positive. There are more milestones where members can receive rewards and there’s a better selection of perks to choose from.

The downgrade to the Guest of Honor perk may be unappealing to Globalists, but some members might benefit from the ability to apply that perk to their own stays before they’ve actually reached Globalist status. The ability to easily apply and share these Milestone Rewards online rather than having to call customer service is also a substantial improvement to the program.
