Green Bay Packers at Carolina Panthers: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 16 game

The Green Bay Packers (6-8) playoff hopes are fading, but they have a chance to get back on the same page against a team coming off a positive week in the Carolina Panthers (2-12).

The defense in Green Bay has begun to collapse, as the unit couldn't stop anything in a big home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 15. What was turning into an optimistic second half of the season has quickly turned into one with several question marks, as Green Bay now needs wins just to have a chance of reaching the postseason.

It was far from pretty, but Carolina got its second win of the season with a game-winning field goal against the Atlanta Falcons. Bryce Young was able to engineer the game-winning drive that should give the rookie some hope as the squad looks for positive notes to end the season.

PROP TALK: These are the best prop bets for NFL games this week

Carolina Panthers place kicker Eddy Pineiro (4) hits a game winning field goal and celebrates with punter Johnny Hekker (10) and tight end Tommy Tremble (82) and offensive tackle Taylor Moton (72) in the fourth quarter at Bank of America Stadium.

Lorenzo Reyes: Packers 25, Panthers 14

Joe Barry could not come up with any adjustments as Baker Mayfield picked apart his zone defense. I’d expect Green Bay to bounce back here against a Panthers team that simply has too many holes to compete week in and week out.

Tyler Dragon: Packers 27, Panthers 17

Jordan Love and the Packers have lost two in a row, but the Panthers should be a get-right game for Green Bay. The attendance at Bank of America Stadium last week should tell you all you need to know about Carolina’s disappointing season. Expect another sparse crowd in what figures to be the Panthers’ 13th loss of the year.

Safid Deen: Packers 27, Panthers 20

Jordan Love and the young Packers got torched by Baker Mayfield and the Bucs last week, but have a get-right game in Carolina to keep their faint playoff hopes alive.

Victoria Hernandez: Packers 23, Panthers 12

After two straight losses, Matt LaFleur’s undefeated-in-December stat is long gone. But the Packers still have more pieces to work with than the lowly Panthers. Carolina got their second win of the season last week. But in front of a historically low crowd. Even their fans don’t want to see them struggle.

Jordan Mendoza: Packers 23, Panthers 16

Green Bay has not capitalized on having one of the more favorable end-of-the-season schedules, so a win here is necessary with two divisional opponents left on the schedule. Carolina got an ugly win last week, and the Packers' defense steps up to prevent the Panthers from exposing them.
