Washington Commanders at New York Jets: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 16 game

With both teams eliminated from playoff contention, the Washington Commanders (4-10) and New York Jets (5-9) don't have much to play for, but they'll meet in an inter-conference contest in Week 16.

Washington's second half of the season woes continued last week, as they fell to the Los Angeles Rams to lose its fifth-straight game of the season. Sam Howell was pulled from the game and Jacoby Brissett gave the offense a fourth-quarter spark, so who emerges as the starter during this week's contest will be something Commander fans will be watching.

The playoff drought continues, as the Jets were once again eliminated from making the playoffs following a shutout loss against the Miami Dolphins. With no playoff spot left to grab, Aaron Rodgers won't be back this season, putting the bow on what has been another disappointing season for Jets fans.

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin (17) carries the ball against the Los Angeles Rams in the second half at SoFi Stadium.

Lorenzo Reyes: Commanders 17, Jets 13

I would stay away from this, with Zach Wilson’s availability up in the air and Washington unable to manage a pass rush and struggling to show any urgency in the two-minute drill. The under is most appealing to me here.

Tyler Dragon: Jets 17, Commanders 16

This game is going to be an offensive struggle. Both these teams are eliminated from playoff contention. But the Jets defense is still stout and capable of making game-changing plays. Expect the Jets to play with a lot of pride in their final home game of the season.

Safid Deen: Commanders 16, Jets 9

Zach Wilson is in concussion protocol after several wicked hits by the Dolphins last week. If Trevor Siemian is the starter, the Jets will find their way to another loss. Sam Howell and the Commanders' offense should be in for a bigger day, but they have their shortcomings, too.

Victoria Hernandez: Jets 20, Commanders 15

Now that the “will Aaron Rodgers return this season” talk is essentially over, the Jets can settle into their last few games utilizing what they have. Yes, they were shut out last week, but the Commanders haven’t exactly been performing at a high level either. New York’s defense will capture this one.

Jordan Mendoza: Commanders 13, Jets 12

In a matchup of teams that continuously beat themselves, it's hard to decide which way to go here. While the Jets' offensive struggles are known, Washington has also had difficulty on that side of the ball recently. However, the quarterback situation with New York makes it difficult to get behind them.
